We are now taking entries for the 2022 V.S. Pritchett Short Story Prize for the best unpublished short story of the year!

Founded by the RSL at the beginning of the new millennium to commemorate the centenary of an author widely regarded as the finest English short-story writer of the 20th century, the £1,000 Prize looks to preserve a tradition encompassing Pritchett’s warmth of feeling and mastery of narrative.

We’re delighted to have Jenn Ashworth, Cynan Jones and Emma Paterson on board as this year’s judges, with the closing date for entries set for Friday 16 September 2022 at 5pm (BST).
