To celebrate our bicentenary, 20 current RSL Fellows have contributed to a brand new anthology that recognises some of their favourite writers of the past 200 years. Launched earlier this month, the digital version introduces readers around the world to writers such as Andrea Dunbar, Parv Bancil and Saki.
You can access it online here – each article makes for a perfect tea-break read! Many thanks to all of our contributing writers for their inspiring pieces.

Are you a teacher? Alongside our anthology, we’re running a competition for 13-18 year olds to tell us which writer from the past most inspires them. Entries stand a chance to win National Book Tokens for the winner and their school. To enter, and for free writing workshops from Daljit Nagra, Helen Mort, Nikesh Shukla, George Szirtes, Sally Bayley and Kerry Hudson, visit the webpage above. Entries close on 10th February 2023.
