James Meek

James Meek was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2020.

James Meek is the author of six novels, two collections of short stories and two books of essays. His novel, The People’s Act of Love, won the RSL Ondaatje Prize, was nominated for the Booker and translated into two dozen languages. His essay collection, Private Island, won the Orwell Prize. Born in London, he grew up in Scotland and spent the 1990s in Russia and Ukraine. He is a contributing editor to the London Review of Books.
