Louise Doughty

Louise Doughty was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2018.

Louise Doughty is the author of eight novels. Her most recent, Black Water, was a New York Times Notable Book of 2016. Her previous novel was the number one bestseller Apple Tree Yard, which became a BBC One television series starring Emily Watson. In 2017, she set up the UEA Crowdfunded Writers’ Scholarship for students from a BAME background to attend the MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, a course she attended herself in the 1980s, when she studied with Malcolm Bradbury and Angela Carter.
