Michael Palin

Michael Palin was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2020.

Sir Michael Palin was born in Sheffield in 1943, and educated at Shrewsbury School and Brasenose College, Oxford. He wrote and performed in the Monty Python series, Ripping
Yarns and a series of travel documentaries spanning the world, from Around the World in 80 Days with Michael Palin to Michael Palin in North Korea. He is the author of ten travel books, two novels – Hemingway’s Chair and The Truth – a non-fiction work, Erebus, plus limericks in various children’s books. Has three children and four grandchildren and lives in London. He was knighted in 2019
