Mohsin Hamid was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2018.
Mohsin Hamid grew up in Pakistan, and has written four novels. His second, The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2007), recounted a Pakistani man’s abandonment of his high-flying life in New York. Published in over 30 languages, it became a million-copy international bestseller, shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. His fourth, Exit West (2017), told the story of two refugees fleeing a war-torn city in a world in which billions of people have begun to migrate through magical black doors. It was shortlisted for the Man Booker, and picked as best book of the year by Barack Obama.
