Suresh Ariaratnam

Suresh Ariaratnam was elected as an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2022.

Suresh Ariaratnam is the founder of Sprung Sultan, which represents writers from Black and Asian communities predominantly. Alongside the storyteller Jan Blake, he runs an advisory facilitating organisational change through storytelling, with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion. He is a trustee of Bath Festivals, Theatre Royal Bath, and Literature Works South West, and a non-executive director at NHS Somerset. Within publishing he is particularly interested in how income inequity for Black and Asian authors perpetuates itself and what the absence of Black and Asian senior leaders indicates about the industry’s approach to change.
