The RSL offers the benefits and joys of a literary festival and book club, rolled into one, all year round: a membership for all seasons.

As a Member you can:

  • Attend our events – over 20 each year – free of charge
  • Bring a guest to each event at a discounted price of £5
  • Subscribe free to our magazine RSL Review
  • Attend our Members-only Book Groups
  • Attend our Summer Party and presentation of new Fellows
  • Receive our monthly e-newsletter
  • Take advantage of exclusive offers with our partner organisations.

The RSL receives no government funding. We rely on the income from our Members’ and Fellows’ subscriptions to continue our work.

Existing members can renew by logging in and visiting the Members’ Area. Please note that The RSL cannot offer refunds for Membership renewal payments made in error.

RSL Individual Membership is £60 a year for the first year*, reducing to £50 a year thereafter and RSL Young Person’s Membership for under 30s is £40 a year for first year*, reducing to £30 a year thereafter.

 Gift Membership

You can now buy membership as a gift for a birthday or other special occasion online. Following your purchase, we will be in touch to arrange how and when you would like the membership to be activated.

Group Membership
The RSL offers group membership packages, which have been popular with higher education institutions, literary agents, publishers and reading groups. Our standard package, which costs £150, includes:

  • Additional free tickets to RSL events
  • 5 copies of the annual RSL Review
  • Subscription to our monthly e-newsletter, with literary discounts and offers
  • Extra invitations to our summer party

Partner Offers
The RSL is pleased to offer Membership at a 20% discount to members of the Society of Authors and London Library, and 10% discount to Slightly Foxed subscribers and members of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain. Log in to the members’ area on each site to access the relevant discount code which can be used when joining the RSL.
