‘Dalloway Day’, in its second year in 2019, is a celebration of one of the 20th Century’s most important novels, and seeks to make Virginia Woolf and Mrs Dalloway to London what James Joyce and Ulysses are to Dublin with the annual ‘Bloomsday’. In this event, renowned Woolf scholar Professor Dame Gillian Beer is joined by Alexandra Harris to discuss love and presence in Mrs Dalloway.

Professor Dame Gillian Beer was the King Edward VII Professor of English Literature at the University of Cambridge from 1994 until her retirement in 2002. She is a Fellow of the British Academy and of the Royal Society of Literature, and was made a Dame in 1998. Among her books are Virginia Woolf: the Common Ground and Alice in Space: the Sideways Victorian World of Lewis Carroll. Alexandra Harris is a writer, academic and also an RSL Fellow. Her books include Romantic Moderns, a biography of Virginia Woolf, and Weatherland: Artists and Writers under English Skies.
