Hot Dog

By: Franky Jimes

About The Poem

It was inspired by thoughts of saving a dog from a fire using only monosyllabic language. From an exercise in a creative writing class.

The Poem

Hot. So hot.
Dog on fire.
Need help.
No help.
Must save dog.
Now.
Me, must save dog.
Now.
Heat. Yowl. Bark. Cry. Sniff.
I cry.
I don’t know what to do to save dog.
Yowl. Bark. Cry. Sniff.
I know.
Ice. Ice. Ice.
Put on fire.
Get dog out.
More Ice.
Good pet. Come on here’s a cat.
Move.
