HUMAN CONNECTION

By: Ramona Galardi

About The Poem

This was written during the first lockdown in March 2020.
I had stepped out to go to the supermarket, observing my London had become a ghost town, a normally heavy traffic thoroughfare of Tottenham Court Road was silent, an eerie silence, barely anyone out, everyone huddled at home, not knowing what to expect outside…scared with what was looming outside the safety of our homes…

The Poem

I desperately want to connect with you
Oh stranger I passed on the street
Our eyes locked
Momentarily
We smiled
With our eyes
The only body part left exposed
We smile
We see each other
Heart-warming
Just a fleeting connection
But real
In 2 heart beats
I still remember
My heart smiles
In hope
And need
Of Human Connection
