INBETWEEN
By: Raka Maitra
About The Poem
This is a short poem reflecting on the passage of time for all in and out of lockdown; of those admitted for Covid; and those waiting for vaccination.
I wrote this in the hospital, looking after my child and listening to the beeping machines through the nights.
The Poem
Between the fall
And falling again
Between just specks
And specks again
A momentary form
Of having existed.
Time.
Between the beeps
And beeping again
Between medicines
Gushing in veins again
A momentary pause
Of having rested.
Sleep.
Between the noise
And noise again
Between two jabs
Breath of hope again
A momentary hesitation
Of having trusted.
Covid.
