The Lightbulb in the Sky

About The Poem
The Poem
In the days of these troubles,
I want to shine light,
On how our world has worked together,
To shine bright.
We have shown that hope is strong,
It is a feeling of joy,
Even when we do not know the right from
the wrong,
We do not need to destroy,
This new found kindness,
This new found love,
This newly built togetherness.
We do not need to shove,
The needy,
Into the dark,
We should stop the greedy,
I should really remark,
This year can inspire,
Can lead the way,
We should admire,
And not look down in dismay.
The many rules,
We must abide,
We lock the schools,
And stay behind,
We wear the masks,
That itch our face,
And if your friend asks,
“Would you like to go someplace?”,
We must say no,
Because although,
You tested negative,
You have to go through self-isolation,
It’s pure desolation,
What an abomination!
We will get there someday,
On top of the mountain,
We will plant the flag on the ground,
And cheer,
And cry,
And shout in joy.
Soon things will be like before,
But first we must win this soon-to-endwar.
