Join two Fellows of the Royal Society of Literature, two icons of stage and screen, Zawe Ashton and Adjoa Andoh for this conversation exclusively for RSL Members and Digital Events Pass holders.  

Zawe Ashton was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2021. In 2022, Adjoa Andoh became an Honorary Fellow. In this online, pre-recorded event, they will discuss the importance of literature in their lives. They will consider the words in their worlds, from books, to scripts, to adaptations between the two.  

Zawe Ashton, FRSL is an actor, playwright and director who started acting at the age of six. Her portrayal of Vod in Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong’s Fresh Meat won her a cult following and the diversity of her work across television, film and stage has attracted numerous accolades around the world. She plays Julia Thistlewaite in Mr Malcolm’s List, relaeased this autumn. Zawe’s play, for all the women who thought they were mad (Oberon Modern Plays) opened to rave reviews in 2019. Her book, Character Breakdown, was published by Vintage in the same year. Zawe was the host of the Women’s Prize Podcast, Season Four. 

Adjoa Andoh, Hon FRSL is an actor, writer and director. Her performances on stage and screen include leading roles for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, the Royal Court, the BBC and Netflix, where she has played the role of Lady Danbury in Bridgerton since 2020.
