With readings from the Peace Poetry pamphlet, three RSL Fellows discuss writing for peace over the last century. Menna Elfyn is one of the foremost Welsh-language writers. She was Wales’ National Children’s Laureate in 2002, and was made President of Wales PEN Cymru in 2014. She has also written two books for children, one of which, Rana Rebel, is about a child soldier. Ian Duhig was born in London to Irish parents, and now lives in Leeds. He has won the National Poetry Competition twice and his seventh poetry collection, The Blind Roadmaker, was shortlisted for the T. S. Eliot Prize and the Forward Poetry Prize for Best Collection. Pascale Petit is a poet of French-Welsh-Indian heritage. Her seventh collection, Mama Amazonica (2017), won the RSL Ondaatje Prize 2018. Her sixth collection, Fauverie, was her fourth to be shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize, and five poems from it won the Manchester Poetry Prize. She has had three collections selected as Books of the Year in the TLS, Independent and The Observer. She received a Cholmondeley Award in 2015 and earlier this year won an RSL Literature Matters Award for her next collection, Tiger Girl.
