Hosted by Dr Emily Zobel Marshall and RSL Director Molly Rosenberg, this interactive online book club will discuss Andrea Levy’s novel Small Island.

Andrea Levy's Small Island is a story of post-war Caribbean migration, narrated from four different perspectives. Since its publication in 2004, the novel has become inextricably linked with Windrush generation as well as Levy’s own Caribbean ancestry. Adapted for the stage by the National Theatre and for television by BBC One, this novel continues to grow in relevance and reach new audiences.

Join us to celebrate Andrea Levy’s contribution to literary culture ahead of the RSL and British Library event Celebrating Andrea Levy with Melanie Abrahams Hon FRSL, Kwame Dawes Hon FRSL, Bill Mayblin, Ella Mesma and Michael Perfect, chaired by Gary Younge. This event will take place on Thursday 4 March in partnership with Leeds Lit Fest

Dr Emily Zobel Marshall is a Reader in Postcolonial Literature at the School of Cultural Studies at Leeds Beckett University. She teaches courses on African-American, Caribbean, African and Black British literature.
