Does information about us, belong to us? How do we define whether a crime, or a news story, or other people’s relationships, are of public interest? Blake Morrison has circled questions of the public and private throughout his writing, from his memoir When Did you Last See Your Father?, to his critical commentary on the James Bulger case, and his most recent novel The Executor, in which he interrogates the ethical responsibilities of the literary executor. Blake Morrison is in conversation with British-Iranian writer Ramita Navai, Tehran correspondent for The Times from 2003 to 2006, and documentary-maker for Channel 4’s Unreported World. Her first book City of Lies won the Debut Political Book of the Year at the 2015 Political Book Awards, and was awarded an RSL Jerwood Award for Non-Fiction.
